I'm Barry (Murph) and I'll be one of your contributors this semester. I'm from Ireland but am now based in Liverpool, England. Firstly, what a great idea for redeveloping the site and the surrounding area. Its a well trodden path now with reinvigorating rundown areas, with Guggenheim Bilbao probably the most famous. Some great analysis of your precedents too and you show a pretty good understanding of each of them. For all of these museums, I'm sure you'll have noted a really strong concept/ parti behind each of them, treating the building as sculpture and an extension of the museum exhibits. Also, try to understand if there is a narrative for each of them - does the exhibition lead you through a journey somehow, either chronologically or through various other ways. I think a strong narrative from the start will help shape your architecture as you progress this semester.
Another precedent that you may want to look at is not quite a car museum but a transport museum - Zaha Hadid's riverside museum in Glasgow, Scotland http://www.dezeen.com/2011/06/10/riverside-museum-by-zaha-hadid-architects/ . Hadid is very good at playing with parti and narratives and the linked article gives a hint at what she was trying to achieve. The site is also very similar to the one you've chosen, so if you are going to start playing with creative forms, its worth understanding how each precedent you've identified sits within its context. Natural light and particularly north light also play a strong role in displaying the exhibits so it may be worth trying to understand that too.
Finally, I hope you'll use all of your contributors as much as possible this semester. Since I've started helping with these online reviews, the students who have interacted more seem to have got a lot more out of the experience than those who didn't. There will be a lot of online reviewers here to help you this semester so use them as much as you can - it doesn't necessarily have to be posting fully finished images but could simply be asking questions or for advice in the comments sections.
Hi Barry i am very happy to have you as a online contributors, i hope this semester you will be able to help me push this project to its hightest potential. The precentes studys that i have found have been very helpful , its help me understand how different architects designed their museums. One of the thing that i learn from my precentes studys is that most of the museums use alot of Natural light or little to no Natural light , which i think really changes the feeling of the space and what is being displayed in the space. i also learn that the design of the museums are like the Guggenheim of New York where the user is continuously walking through the space , other museums are like normal buildings where the users are going floor to floor to visit the spaces. i think with this project i will want to design the building like the Guggenheim , where the user experiences the space like a timeline . The Zaha Hadid river side museum is a great project , i really like how she inculded the river in to her design . i will use her project as a precedent study for my next assignment , i think it will really show me how i can inculde the shore front into my project. i will try to post all my work as soon as its done or almost done and i will answer back to all comments as soon as i can, i think my project will be more successful now with all of my online contributors then with out them. i am very thankfull for all the feed back that i will be given. Thank you
